INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 2 – Lesson 3 for Teachers

LESSON 3: READ AND CREATE

VOCABULARY: basketball, running, hanging out, playing games, soccer, dance, active

STORY: There is a girl. Her name is Raquel. She is 15 years old. She is very active. She likes to do a lot of things in her free time. She also is part of several different teams. Her favorite thing to do in her free time is dance. She dances three days a week. She takes ballet and tap classes.  When she is not dancing she likes to run. She runs when she has time at home. She is part of her school’s soccer team. They have practice every day after school. She stays super busy during the school year but she likes to be busy. It keeps her healthy and she enjoys spending time with her friends while practicing her favorite sports. 

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Review the Vocabulary Words
  2. Students will read through the story in partners of groups.  They will be given time to read through and answer as many STORY QUESTIONS  on their own as they can. 
    1. STORY QUESTIONS:
      1. What is the girl’s name and how old is she?
      2. What kind of person is she?
      3. What does she do in her free time?
      4. How often does she dance?
      5. How often does she have soccer practice?
      6. Why does she like to stay busy?
  3. After about 15-20 minutes go through the story and answer the questions as a group. 
  4. Spend time answering the following PERSONAL QUESTIONS about what each of the students likes to do in their free time. 
    1. PERSONAL QUESTIONS:
      1. What do you like to do in your free time?
      2. What are your favorite sports?
      3. Do you prefer to be inside or outside?
      4. Do you prefer to be alone or with friends?
  5. End class in prayer
