LESSON 1:  MULTIPLICATION OF FOOD

VOCABULARY: bread, fish, loaves, enough, Miracles, heals, towns, broke, secluded

STORY: There is a man. His name is Jesus. He is a man who helps a lot of people. Not only does he help a lot of people, but he also performs many miracles and heals many people. Often, people cannot believe what they have seen Jesus do. They don’t understand how Jesus does it. But Jesus teaches us how to have faith and believe in God. One day after performing many miracles and healings, Jesus left to a secluded place to be alone. But Jesus was a special man and he could not go anywhere without people following him. Many people followed Jesus out of town. Everyone stayed with Jesus for a long time, until it was time to eat. When it was time to eat, Jesus’ helpers did not know how they were going to feed everyone because they were so far out of town and only had some fish and bread. It was not enough food to feed the amount of people who had followed Jesus out of town. They asked Jesus what to do. Jesus told his helpers to feed all the people. His helpers did not know how they could feed everyone but they listened to what Jesus said. They only had five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus knew what he was going to do. Jesus broke the bread and gave it to his helpers. His helpers gave it to the people. Everyone ate and ate and ate. They ate as much as they wanted. They never ran out of food. No one could believe it.  How did such little food feed so many people? Even after everyone was done, there was food leftover. There were about 5,000 people who ate that day. No one could believe it, but that is what Jesus does. He performs miracles.
