VOCABULARY: disciples, lost, way, troubled, worried, explains, sheep

STORY: There is a man named Jesus. He is a good man. He was sent to earth from God to preach and teach. This work was not easy. Jesus needed help. Jesus chose 12 disciples to help him teach and preach. Jesus told his disciples that the only way to receive eternal life is through him. Jesus speaks to his disciples and tells them not to worry. But the disciples are still worried. They do not know where Jesus is going, and they are afraid they will be lost and alone if he leaves them.  Jesus tells them not to worry because he is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus does not want his disciples to be troubled or worried, and he does not want us to be troubled or worried. (Jesus explains that he is the only way to Heaven, and he can help lead us to make good decisions. We are like lost sheep. Jesus is the only one who can “find” us. This happens when we trust Him with our lives.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. What does it mean to be lost? (Not finding our way)
  2. What do you think is sin? (Wait for answers, and explain sin to the students if needed)
  3. Does sin cause us to be lost from God? (Yes)
  4. Who can save us from our sins or from being lost? (God)

PRAY: If there is more time, retell the story through pictures and then pray.
