LESSON 15: READ AND CREATE

THEME: What Would You Like to Do in Your Life? 

VOCABULARY: dreams, architect, travel, constructing, design, lawyer 

STORY: There is a young man and there is also a young girl. They both have many dreams. The young man would like to become an architect one day. He would like to run his own business and travel the world constructing buildings for people. He thinks that it would be so much fun to be able to design different buildings. The young girl has a dream to become a lawyer. She wants to be able to help people in their time of need. They both would like to travel and see different countries. They would each like to be a parent and have a family someday. They would both like to meet someone famous. The young girl would love to meet a famous actress and the young man would love to meet a famous soccer player.

STORY WITH QUESTIONS: There is a young man and there is also a young girl. (Who is this story about?) They both have many dreams. (What do they have?) The young man would like to become an architect one day.  (What would the young man like to become?)  He would like to run his own business and travel the world constructing buildings for people. (What would he like to do with his business?) He thinks that it would be so much fun to be able to design different buildings. (What does he think would be fun?) The young girl has a dream to become a lawyer. (What would the young girl like to become?)  She wants to be able to help people in their time of need. (Why does she want to be a lawyer?) They both would like to travel and see different countries. (What would they both like to do?) They would each like to be a parent and have a family some day. (Do they want to have a family?) They would both like to meet someone famous. (Who would they like to meet?)  The young girl would love to meet a famous actress and the young man would love to meet a famous soccer player. (Who wants to meet an actress? Who wants to meet a soccer player?) 

ACTIVITIES

  1. Review the Vocabulary Words .
  2. Listen to Audio 1  as you read the story.
  3. Listen to Audio 2 – Story with Questions as you read the story and answer the questions.
  4. Have the students answer the following questions:
    • What would you like to be when you grow up? I would like to be a/an ________
    • What would you like to do when you are older? I would like to/I want to ______.
    • Where would you like to travel when you are older?  I would like to/ I want to travel to ______________________. 
    • Who is someone you would like to meet?  I would like to meet______________.
    • What else would you like to do in life? I would like to______________________. 

5. Give the students time to write the answers to their questions. Have them share, and ask questions after they share. This gives them practice answering with “she would/he would.” 

    • What would she like to be?  
    • What would he like to do?  

6. End the class in prayer.
