LESSON 12: THE BASIC GOSPEL

THEME: Life Application Lesson

STORY: There is a little boy. His name is Manny. Manny is 5 years old. One day he went to the park to play. He went with his mom and two friends, Sarah and Steve. Manny loves to go to the park.  He loves to play on the swings and run around with his friends. On this day Manny ran around and around and around. After some time the park became very crowded. There were so many people.  Manny looked and looked around but could not see his mom or his friends. He became very worried and sad. He started to cry because he was lost. Manny did not know but his mom and his friends were looking all over for him. His mom and his friends were running around the park looking for him.  Manny sat down and cried and cried and cried. He was so upset. His mom and his friends were scared. They were worried that someone took Manny. After sometime Manny’s mom and friends found Manny sitting and crying. Manny’s mom picked him up and gave him a big hug! Manny felt very happy.

(What does he love to do?)  On this day, Manny ran around and around and around. (What was Manny doing?)  After some time, the park became very crowded. (Were there a lot of people or only a few people?) There were so many people. Manny looked and looked around but could not see his mom or his friends. (Could Manny see his mom and friends?) He became very worried and sad. (How does Manny feel – happy or sad?) He started to cry because he was lost. (Is Manny laughing or crying?) Manny did not know that his mom and his friends were running around the park looking all over for him. (Who was looking for Manny?)  Manny sat down and cried and cried and cried. (Who was crying?) He was so upset. (Is Manny happy or sad?) His mom and his friends were scared. (Are his mom and friends sad or scared?) They were worried that someone took Manny.  After some time, Manny’s mom and friends found Manny sitting and crying. (Who found Manny?) Manny’s mom picked him up and gave him a big hug! (Who gave Manny a hug?) Manny felt very happy. (How does Manny feel now?)

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Review the vocabulary words. Listen to the Vocabulary File for pronunciation. Look up the meaning of any words you don’t know.
  2. Listen to Audio 1 as you read through the story.
  3. Listen to Audio 2 – Story with Questions as you read through the story and answer the questions.

5. Answer the following questions:

    • Have you ever been lost? How did you feel? Who found you? How did you feel when they found you?
    • Who will always find us when we are lost? Who will always be there for us when we are in trouble? Who can we always count on? (God)

6. Play Telephone: Sit the students in a circle. Have one student whisper a word or phrase into the ear of the next student, and continue this until the message gets to the last student. Have that student share what they heard. Enjoy finding out how different the message became!

7. Have a student pray in English.
