ADVANCED LEVEL 1: Lesson 13 for Teachers

LESSON 13: READ AND RESPOND 

THEME: Review Lessons 1-12

STORY: There is a girl named Emily.  She is 31 years old.  She has an older brother who is 35. His name is Michael. Michael has a wife. Her name is Jeannie. Emily’s sister-in-law is 35 years old, too. They have a son. Emily’s nephew’s name is Preston. He is two years old. Emily also has a twin sister.  Her name is Ellen. She has two kids. Their names are Zaelynn and Oakley. Emily’s niece, Zaelynn, is 8 years old and her nephew, Oakley, is 7 years old. Her whole family lives in Michigan. They all love to spend time together. Michael is a doctor. Emily’s sister-in-law and her sister are teachers, like her. Zaelynn and Oakley love to dance and sing.  They also like to do karate. Preston loves to dance and play with his toy cars. They are all so cute! 

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Listen to the Directions.
  2. Listen to Audio 1 as you read through the story.
  3. Have the students read through the story in partners. Have them answer the questions below independently.  You may move around the room to help where needed.
    1. Answer the questions below:

      • What is the girl’s name?  
      • How old is she? 
      • How old is her brother? 
      • How many nieces and nephews does she have? 
      • What is her brother’s job? 
      • What is her job? 
      • What is her niece’s name?  
      • What are her nephews’ names?
  4. After the majority of the class has finished, read through the story as a class. 
  5. Go over the questions and the answers. 
  6. If there is extra time, have a few students practice reading in front of the class. 
  7. End class with prayer
