ADVANCED LEVEL 2 – Lesson 6 for Teachers

LESSON 6: LISTEN AND RESPOND

THEME: HEARING GOD’S VOICE – PART 2

VERSE: John 16:13:When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”

VOCABULARY: recover, passed away, intern, heard, clearly

STORY: There is a girl. Her name is Emily. She is 28 years old. She had been going through a hard time. Her father had passed away when she was 26 years old and it took her a long time to recover from losing her father. She went to Colombia as an intern and learned a lot about the Lord. She sat through many lessons on the Father’s love and how the Holy Spirit could speak to us. The Lord had spoken to her before through dreams, but it had been a long time since she had heard from the Lord. During her time in Colombia, she learned that there are many ways to hear from the Lord. One day she was sitting through a class when the man preaching looked at her and said to her, “God has brought you here to Colombia to heal your heart.” Emily could not believe what she was hearing. She had never heard the Lord speak so clearly to her, and she had never heard Him speak to her through another person. This was the first time, but it would not be the last. She heard from the Lord many other times during her internship. There were many times when Emily felt surprised that the Lord was speaking so clearly to her. She felt like she was developing a whole new deeper relationship with the Lord. John 16:13 says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”  Emily knew that the Lord had been using this time as healing for her heart, and as a way for the Lord to reveal to her what was to come.
